Rewriting My Story – Week 2 Recap & What’s Coming in Week 3
Week 2 of the 90-Day Glow Up Challenge was a lesson in two things: momentum and flexibility. I went into the week ready to tackle the infamous basement and fine-tune my new habits—and for a while, everything was going great.
And then… cue the dramatic music… I got sick.
So while the week didn’t go exactly as planned, it still brought progress, insights, and some satisfying decluttering wins. Here’s what happened—sniffles and all.
Basement Decluttering: Halfway Through and Still a Win
Let’s start with the big one: the basement. The infamous catch-all, clutter cave, graveyard of “I’ll deal with it later” boxes. This has been on my to-do list for… longer than I’m willing to admit. So finally rolling up my sleeves and starting—even if I didn’t finish—felt like a huge mental shift.
I kicked off the week with energy and a plan. Room by room, I started working through the piles and mystery bins like a woman possessed. And honestly? It felt amazing. Every bag of trash, every box of donations, every shelf I wiped down gave me that weirdly satisfying “why didn’t I do this sooner?” feeling.
Then came Thursday, and so did the cold. My energy disappeared, my motivation tanked, and I had to put the rest of the basement on pause. Normally, I’d beat myself up about that. But instead, I reminded myself: I made progress. And that matters.
The stuff I did let go of felt significant—like those XS jackets I’ve been emotionally clinging to, thinking I might magically fit into them again someday. Spoiler: I won’t. And that’s okay. It actually felt weirdly empowering to let them go and make space for who I am now.
Also, I discovered that I somehow own seven of the exact same screwdriver (which, honestly, tracks), and at least two mystery tools that look like they belong in a sci-fi movie. Those were fun.
So, did I finish the basement? No.
Did I make progress, feel lighter, and set myself up for success in Week 3? Absolutely.
And honestly, I’m proud of that.

Habit Refinements: More Wins, Some Wobbles, and Real-Life Adjustments
This week was all about improving the habits I started in Week 1—making them easier to follow and more natural. Here’s how that went:
Habit Locked-In: Getting Up 15 Minutes Earlier
Still going strong! This habit now feels completely natural, so I’m ready to move on to a new one next week.
Habit Win: Intermittent Fasting + The App
The fasting app was a game-changer. It gives me a “congrats!” notification when I hit my goal, and yes—it’s cheesy, but it works. Of course, once I got sick, fasting wasn’t even an issue… because I just didn’t want to eat.
In Week 3, I’m extending my fast by one more hour—let’s see how that goes.
Habit Win: Quality Time With My Dog (No Phone Allowed!)
Setting a time and alarm helped so much. I didn’t always remember it on my own, but when I did it, I felt so much more connected to her. For Week 3, I’m removing all distractions—no phone, no audiobook, no TV. Just me and the dog.
Habit Win: Morning & Afternoon Messages to My Fiancé
This habit is going well—except for one morning when I forgot and he told me he had started to depend on it. (Cute.) I’ll keep this habit going until it’s fully locked in.
Habit Win: Ending Workdays With Writing Down My Top 3 Priorities For The Next Day
Ending each workday by planning the next has made starting my work so much easier. For Week 3, I’m building on this by also making a general to-do list for the next day.
Not Perfect? That’s Okay.
I still haven’t hit 100% on my habit tracker. So if you haven’t either—you’re not alone, and it doesn’t mean you failed. It just means we’re trying. And that counts.
Lessons From Week 2: Slow Down When You Need To
The biggest thing I learned this week? It’s okay to rest.
When I got sick, I had to pause. And that’s life. Sometimes we don’t finish everything, but that doesn’t mean the week was a waste. It means we’re human.
I still made progress. I still showed up for myself. And that’s what this challenge is about.
Week 3 Focus: Digital Decluttering + Finishing the Basement
Since Week 2 was interrupted, Week 3 is a bit of a hybrid—wrapping up the basement and moving into digital decluttering (because digital clutter counts, too).
Digital Decluttering Plan:
Monday: Clean out emails (quick win!)
Tuesday: Declutter files & documents
Wednesday: Simplify apps & programs
Thursday: Tidy up digital desktop
Friday: Declutter my 6-year-old’s computer (wish me luck)
Saturday & Sunday: Sort through photos and screenshots (this one needs two days—send snacks!)
Basement Finish-Up Plan:
Monday & Tuesday: Storage Room 1
Wednesday & Thursday: Storage Room 2
Habit Goals for Week 3:
- Double My Water Intake: I’m replacing my morning wake-up habit with drinking more water. I already drink one large water bottle a day, but now I’m aiming for two!
- Continue Intermittent Fasting: Now extending my fast by one more hour.
- Continue Dog Quality Time: Now without any distractions
- Continue with Fiancé Check-Ins: Morning and afternoon.
- Continue Work Priorities: End each workday with writing down my top 3 priorities for the next day and adding a to-do list
“Small daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results.”
Final Thoughts: Progress Is Still Progress
Week 2 didn’t go as planned—but that’s okay. Because even when life slows you down, you can still move forward.
If you’re on this journey with me, and your week didn’t go perfectly either—give yourself some grace. This isn’t about being flawless. It’s about being committed.
Let’s head into Week 3 with determination, flexibility, and a little bit of humor.
We’ve got this.
